Yesterday, the Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, attended the Green Recovery Stakeholder Forum in Kiev, promoted by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Viktoriia Grynchuk, together with UNEP, UNDP and other international agencies committed to supporting the country in its environmental transition efforts.
In his speech, the ambassador reaffirmed Italy's support for Ukraine's green reconstruction, emphasising the opportunity to combine economic recovery, ecological security and energy transition. He also recalled that the issue will also be addressed at the Ukraine Recovery Conference that Italy will host in Rome in July 2025, offering continuity to the path begun in Berlin and a concrete opportunity to take stock of the progress made.
Formosa also announced on the occasion the launch of a new EUR 2 million project, funded by the Italian Cooperation and implemented with Unep, to strengthen the energy resilience of Ukrainian cities through smart, distributed and sustainable systems.
'Rebuilding Ukraine in a sustainable way,' said the Ambassador, 'is not just a technical choice, but a moral responsibility towards future generations. Italy is ready to play its part, with expertise, partnerships and a European vision'.
