The Milan bourse closed 2.39% up Tuesday with the FTSE-Mib index rising to 35,843 points amid mixed signals on Trump tariffs after the US president said he was mulling exemptions for auto parts but considering raising taxes on semiconductors and pharmaceuticals.
London closed 1.41% up, Paris 0.86% up and Frankfurt 1.43% up.
In New York the Dow Jones opened 0.16% up, the Nasdaq 0.11% up and the S&P 500 0.18% up.
Back in Milan, the spread between BTPs and Bunds widened to 118.3 points and the yield on the Italian 10-year bond also rose to 3.71%. Stellantis (+4.3%) did well with the potential truce on auto duties announced by Trump. Leonardo (+5.16%) was up among defense stocks. Banco Bpm (+3.6%) was in the front row among banking stocks. With the markets closed, it emerged that Piazza Meda, at Thursday's meeting of MPS (+3.14%) of which it is a shareholder with 5%, will vote in favor of the increase to service the voluntary public offering on Mediobanca (+3.5%). Unicredit was also well bought among banking stocks following the green light from the German Antitrust to acquire up to 29.9% of Commerzbank. On the opposite side of the list, Amplifon (-4.6%) and Campari (-1.6%) were down.
