A country that protects you can't be
insulted, Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli said Saturday
referring to Friday's clash at the White House between Ukrainian
President Volodymyr Zelensky and United States President Donald
Trump.
"I think we need realism and humility. I don't think a person,
a State that protects you in Europe with hundreds of thousands
of soldiers, ships, planes, which are on the economic back of
the United States, can be insulted when it asks to review the
conditions", said the member of Premier Giorgia Meloni's
rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, commenting with
journalists in Potenza, on the sidelines of the presentation of
ex culture minister Gennaro Sangiuliano's book on Trump, on what
happened yesterday at the White House, between the US president
and Zelensky.
"Europe must work with finesse, do a lot of diplomacy so as not
to lose a historic ally".
