Three Italian universities, the
Politecnico in Milan, Rome's La Sapienza and Bologna University
made the top 200 top universities in the world according to the
latest QS World University Rankings, a portfolio of comparative
university rankings compiled by global higher education analyst
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
The Milan Polytechnic was up 16 slots to 123rd in the world, its
best ever ranking, while La Sapienza came in at 134th, three up
and its best ever too, and the University of Bologna was steady
at 154th.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) celebrated 12
years at the top of the QS ranking of the world's best
universities.
The University of Cambridge retained second place while Oxford
rose one place to third.
All but one of the Italian universities rose in the rankings or
maintained the same position as last year.
