A 75-year-old pensioner stabbed his
75-year-old wife to death with a pair of scissors near Bari on
Friday, the latest in a horrifying spate of femicides in Italy.
The man, Vineczno Visaggi, alleged killed the woman, Lucia
Chiapparoni, and then called the police, confessing: "Come, I
killed my wife".
The femicide was committed in the couple's home in Mariotto, a
hamlet in the municipality of Bitonto, about forty kilometers
from Bari.
According to reports, the man attempted to take his own life
immediately afterward, but failed.
When they arrived, the police found him in the bathroom.
He was taken to hospital with slight wounds to his chest.
He is under guard there.
