The government is set to earmark some
25 billion euros from a review of the National Recovery and
Resilience Fund (NRRP) and from cohesion funds in order to help
ease the pain of Donald Trump's tariffs for Italian businesses,
Premier Giorgia Meloni said after meeting category leaders
Tuesday.
"We have identified within the financial allocation of the
Italian Recovery and its next review approximately 14 billion
euros that can be remodeled to support employment and increase
productivity efficiency", Meloni said at the meetings with the
categories on the tariffs' impacts.
"A further opportunity that we intend to seize is that of the
review of the cohesion policy that was approved last week by the
(European) Commission on a proposal from Vice President
(Raffaele) Fitto.
"In this context, approximately 11 billion euros can be
reprogrammed in favor of companies, workers and sectors that may
be most affected.
"Also in this case, the reprogramming must be defined in
agreement with the European Commission".
