Taxing large concentrations of wealth
should be on the agenda at the international level, Democratic
Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein said on Friday.
"The issue of taxing big patrimonies cannot be taboo, at least
at the European or international level," the leader of a
centre-left opposition party told a round table organized by the
Treccani institute.
"I take as my own the proposal made by (Brazilian President)
Lula.
"But the debate must be held at least at the European level,
because it is more effective to intervene at that level".
Ex-premier Giuseppe Conte, the leader of the 5-Star Movement
(M5S), and Nicola Fratoianni of the Green-Left Alliance (AVS)
also took part in the round table.
